Join the Vagantes Board of Directors!

The Vagantes Conference on Medieval Studies is pleased to announce the opportunity to join the Board of Directors!

Open positions on the Board of Directors include: Webmaster, Member at Large (Paper Prize Coordinator) and Member-At-Large (general). All roles are two-year terms and are open to all past Vagantes participants currently enrolled in a graduate program.

  • The Member-at-Large: Member-at-Large is responsible for creating and implementing special projects to enrich the experiences of the Vagantes community. The scope and duration of their projects shall be determined on a case-by-case basis to address the needs of the Vagantes community as they arise. One Member-at-Large will also take a leadership role in coordinating the Paper Prize.
  • The Webmaster: The Webmaster shall be responsible for maintaining and promoting a social media presence for the Vagantes Conference both before and throughout the conference and for checking in with past attendees of the conference. This officer will be the primary administrator of the Vagantes Facebook and Twitter accounts. They shall be responsible for maintaining and updating the portions of the Vagantes Conference Website not directly related to the organization of the current conference.
  • Note: Those who apply to host the 2026 Vagantes Conference will also have a chance to become Future Host Representatives (and then Current Host Representatives) on the Board. Information regarding applying to host Vagantes can be found here!

Self-nominations for Board of Directors positions should include the following information and should be sent to vagantesboard@gmail.com no later than May 24th, 2024.

  • Institution affiliation
  • Field of study
  • Status (PhD ABD, PhD, MA, etc.) with expected year of graduation indicated
  • A statement of interest no longer than 250 words or up to 4 sentences (this statement may be circulated on a ballot)
