Vagantes 2025 will be held at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, USA. 

ACCOMMODATION

The Lodge

In order to best serve Vagantes Conference attendees, we have set-up a room block at The Lodge at Duke Medical Center, with check-in beginning Wednesday April 2 and check-out on Sunday April 6. TRAVEL

By Plane

Durham and Chapel Hill are served by Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU), which is about a twenty-to-twenty-five-minute drive to Duke’s West Campus. If arriving at Terminal 2, follow the signs towards Baggage Claim and Ground Transportation. A variety of options are available to you, including Taxis. Uber and Lyft are probably the most popular, as the bus takes 3-4 hours.  If arriving at Terminal 1, follow the signs towards Ground Transportation. You will find taxis for hire as well as Uber and Lyft options.

By Train

Durham (DNC) is accessible by Amtrak Rail Service. The station is located in the City Center. The quickest way from the rail-line to Duke’s West Campus or The Lodge is by taxi, Uber, or Lyft. Bus is another option between the station and Duke and takes about twenty-to-thirty minutes. The 400, 6, and 11B→11 buses all run between DNC rail station and The Lodge.

By Car

Duke’s The Lodge and West Campus are accessible by car. From the north via I-85, the south by I-40 and US 15/501, east and west via I-885 and I-85.

When coming to West Campus, set your GPS for the Bryan Center Parking Garage, Durham, NC. Parking is $2/hour in the garage and surface lot. Campus Drive is currently inaccessible to unauthorized vehicles. Please enter Duke’s West Campus from other approaches. 

Alternatively, many Duke Graduate Students park on public streets surrounding East Campus (following any posted-parking regulations by the City of Durham) and take the C1 bus from East Campus to West Campus. This is a cost-free, student-centered, and fun way to get around easily between the two campuses. 

Other Transportation Options

No direct campus transportation is available between The Lodge and West Campus. Attendees are encouraged to Uber, Lyft, or drive their own vehicle to West Campus from the Lodge (carpool with other attendees!). Alternatively, public transportation (bus) offers a thirty-minute commute, dropping passengers at varying points near or on West Campus.
